WOMEN IN HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM
The sector employs over 200,000 people across tourism-related businesses in Scotland. Five years ago was it was estimated that around 60% of those working in the sector were female and today there is little evidence to suggest that this statistic has changed.
Rachel McTavish will lead a discussion with a panel of women working in different areas of hospitality and tourism, on how women in this industry have helped grow the Scottish economy, addressing the gender imbalance in this sector, and looking at how women are taking the lead in different roles.
On the panel will be:
Dale MacPhee, General Manager at the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh. Started as a hotel receptionist in Canada, has worked around Europe, and is now the first female General Manager of this luxury hotel in Scotland. www.waldorfastoriaedinburgh.com
