How long have you been in business?

Property Studios opened its doors in January 2014, so nearly 5 and a half years ago.

What is your core business?

Creative marketing solutions for the property sector in Scotland

Have you always worked in this business sector?

Most of my career has been spent in marketing communications, and I have worked in the property industry in marketing for nearly a decade.

What do you enjoy most about your business?

Developing new and innovative products to help showcase and sell property

What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?

The biggest challenge in our business is to create high-tech and high-end look products (and services) for a very affordable price. The best way to make it affordable is to do high-volume. So, our business model is based on this principle; we can do up to 400 photo-shoots per month, 300 bespoke brochures per month, tens of films each month, and up to 5 client magazines per month.

Do you switch off from work or are you tempted to check your emails at the weekend?

No, this is a challenge I still need to overcome. I always check and respond to emails, no matter what time of day or day of the week!

What are your top tips for anyone looking to take the leap of faith and set up a business?

Know your market and understand what clients are looking for – you can have a great product or idea but if it is not what your market wants or needs, you won’t be able to sell it.

What do you enjoy most about being a BWS Member?

I work in a male-dominated environment; most board members at soliciting firms and most builders/developers are men. Being around women who run their own businesses is invaluable, as I find women being much more honest and open to talk about the challenges facing them. The programmes offered (like the BWS growth programme) has revolutionised my way of thinking about my own business and how to grow it. I only wish I have joined sooner!

And finally, are you taking a holiday this year, and does it have to have Wi-Fi?

Yes, I will be visiting in-laws in France in August and yes, it will absolutely have to have Wi-Fi!
